PLAYER INFORMATION Name: Juli Email: tangerinedreams291[at]yahoo[dot]com AIM: firin mah layzor CHARACTER INFORMATION Name: Winry Rockbell Series: Fullmetal Alchemist Age: 20 PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Winry has a very muscular build and is in fact very short and stocky. She only reaches about 5'3" in height, weighing somewhere around 150lbs. which is largely muscle. She has pale yellow-blonde hair that reaches about her shoulder blades and is generally held in a messy bun or a ponytail to keep it out of her face. Contrary to this up-do, however, she has scruffy side-swept bangs that fall into her eyes and two tails of hair that frame either side of her face. Because of this, she generally keeps her hair shoulder-length and shorter so it doesn't get in the way of her work. Her eyes are a rather striking cerulean blue. Winry has a very curvy figure, and her choice of attire accentuates this well. She wears a cream-colored peasant-style shirt, with short sleeves that are designed to rest off the shoulder. Over this she wears a chocolate brown bodice, which ties just under her bust with rope matching the shirt beneath. She wears a pair of daisy duke-style camouflage green shorts and a small half-cape around her waist. The cape and corset were originally one piece, like a strange sort of coat or bodysuit, but she separated the two pieces for convenience. Over the combination she wears a somewhat misplaced and useless navy blue belt, which serves only the purpose of a place to hook tools and things of that nature to her person. On her feet are a pair of stained leather boots which reach just below her knees, matching her shorts in an army green color. Winry does not wear much in the way of jewelry, due to the fact that it would not be conducive to her profession. She does, however, always wear a total of five earrings. She wears two tiny hoops in each earlobe, as well as an ear cuff on her right helix which has a small chain attached and trails to her fifth and final piercing at the anti helix. All her jewelry is silver, as she believed gold clashes with hair and complexion. ![]() PERSONALITY As a child, Winry was somewhat of a bookish nerd, trying too hard at an early age to fit in with the snobby rich children at her school. Because of this, she didn't have many friends, and became independent early on. When her parents brought house guests into the equation, Winry probably came off as very snobbish and entitled, irritated by the commoners taking over her household. In truth, she was irritated, but only because she felt her ability to shine for her parents was in danger with the new arrivals. ![]() ABILITIES/STRENGHTS/WEAPONRY Winry has an amazing talent with machines, able to fix near anything with only a brief examination and description of the problem. Her particular area of expertise is that of the airship; due mostly to a fascination with the airborne vessel. Similarly, she is also good with air bikes and skimmers, due to Zi You, her personal ride. ![]() WEAKNESSES More than likely due to a rough childhood and general dissatisfaction with herself, Winry has fairly low self-esteem. She knows she's a good mechanic, but has never thought of herself as terribly intelligent or attractive, and would never gloat about anything unless in jest or to friends. She lives in constant fear of being bested, always striving to be good at what she does but not outshine her peers (as to save them the 'shame' of being bested which she always fears). Winry also has a very short fuse, touchy about many subjects. For this reason, she has poor people skills, finding basic conversation trying on her patience. She does not often talk about herself or her past, and is secretive to a fault. ![]() HISTORY Winry was born to a wealthy family of doctors, raised on a cow-bison breeding farm on the island Destiny. She spent most of her childhood with her grandmother, as her parents were often away on medical business. She helped out around the house, took care of the family dog and the giraffe-horses used for herding, and was generally a very independent child. She was an average student at one of the nearby schools, but not for lack of trying. Despite her best efforts, it seemed Winry had not inherited her mother's medical genius, perhaps taking more after her father who also worked as a mechanic as a side job. Due to this and the additional influence of her grandmother's way with machinery, Winry grew up with strong mechanical inclinations. At the age of seven, Winry's parents returned home with somewhat of a surprise -- a friend of theirs from their University years and her two children. Enter Winry's new 'friends', Edward and Alphonse Elric. From the get-go, Winry was not fond of either of the boys, finding their presence irksome and generally intrusive. Edward in particular irritated her, for after a period of time living on her mother and father's funding, he was sent to the same school as she was. Almost instantaneously he had surpassed her academically, without even breaking a sweat or studying for hours before and after school. Still, Winry knew her parents would be disappointed with her should she act on her envy of Edward's marks, so she remained forbearing. Through her forbearance, a friendship eventually grew, and Winry slowly but surely came to be very close to the Elrics. That is, until Edward gained a scholarship for his good marks to the Faustus Academy of Institutional Learning, a prep school for the most esteemed (and only) University in all of Aegis--the very school her mother and father had graduated from. Distraught over her inability to ever compare to Edward, and Edward's own delight in "deserting" her for a boarding school on Elysium, Winry became very cold and self-deprecating at eleven. She stopped trying in school, nearly flunking out entirely, and ceasing to find joy in simple things she had before. Barely a month after Edward's departure, Winry's parents were called off for an on-site job as medics during the wars. Constantly busy, her parents found contact with their daughter difficult, and letters were sent few and far between. For the next four months, Winry continued teetering back and forth on the edge of flunking out of school, until the day before her twelfth birthday, when they received a letter in the mail. Winry's parents had been killed on the island Tartarus, where they had been stationed. From there, Winry's life and personality went entirely down the drain. She locked herself in her bedroom and dropped out of school, refusing to leave her room even to attend her parents' funeral. Her grandmother took to leaving meals for her outside her door, returning a few hours later to find them barely picked over. During this time, Winry worked furiously at fixing up an old airbike her grandmother had been letting her tinker with, determined to get it back in running order. Two weeks after her parents' funeral, on a quiet night long after her grandmother and the other house guests had gone to sleep, Winry stuffed a sack full of a few days' worth of food, taking it and what little money she had and fleeing on her now-operational skimmer. She left nothing more than a note apologizing to her grandmother, telling her not to worry and that she would try to be in touch. And with that Winry fled to the port city of Epidarus, where she and her bike stowed away in the cargo belly of a ship bound for Tartarus. Unfortunately, the food and funds she packed along with her didn't last long, and with the workings of her air bike being all she really knew, Winry took up mechanics to keep herself afloat. Oftentimes she went hungry and slept in alleyways with her bike, but refused to return home. At eighteen, after six years of lucky chances and trial-and-error mechanics, Winry finally had a reason to get up in the mornings. She had taken to paying for meals and inn fees by fixing appliances and the like for the owners of the places where she ate and slept, as well as periodic side jobs working on people's ships. Having finally found her calling, Winry's personality and general outlook on life had done a full three-sixty since her departure from Destiny. It was also this year of her life that she met a one Captain Reno, a rather dashing pirate and captain of a small ship called the Gelnika. Winry came across Reno by sheer happenstance, the fiery-haired young man intervening when her attempt to ask the wrong group of men for directions turned sour. She offered to buy Reno a drink in thanks, and the two parted ways. They met again a few months later in the same bar, Reno requesting Winry's assistance due to a mechanical issue on his ship. From that point on, Winry tentatively 'resided' on Reno's ship, keeping up with maintenance whenever it was necessary, but still making fairly regular runs to shops when at port. The only time Winry stayed exclusively on the ship was when Reno docked at either Destiny or Elysium, not wanting to risk meeting someone she didn't want to see. ![]() IN-GAME DEVELOPMENTS Winry met and made 'friends' with the neurotic mechanic Stork on Saturday October 26. There, she bought a new displacement lubricator for the Gelnika's engine and promptly foamed herself silly at her Captain on Sunday morning. When the two go out to lunch Winry makes Viasti Hojo's aquaintance. On Monday the 28th, Winry meets a one Tifa Lockhart (though she doesn't know the woman's last name), and immediately Does Not Like Her. The dislike fades a little, only to spike again later, when Winry catches Reno and Tifa in a compromising position in the sand. Later still, she drags Stork out to eat with herself, Reno and Tifa, and there are many an awkward silence. As the eventful Monday comes to a close, Winry has a near panic attack when her Captain is nearly ingested by a Jupiter Cowtrap. Come Tuesday morning, Reno awakens and there are a few comical misunderstandings. Otherwise Tuesday is fairly uneventful in contrast to Monday. On Wednesday Winry has a heart-to-heart with Reno about her past, learning that the two grew up on the same island. There is much maintenance done on the Gelnika, and when evening falls Winry goes to bother Stork and make sure their dinner escapade didn't kill the boy. Upon reaching the warehouse, Winry meets Toph but more importantly, learns that Stork is currently residing on the Albiore with his beloved Condor. The blonde promptly makes her way to port, sneaks onto the Albiore, and is caught by none other than Dr. Viasti A. Hojo. Fancy that. By his request, she leaves, only to come back later. She finds her friend, discovers that he is in fact okay, and is promptly caught by Jade Curtiss. While she mops up the mess she left in the halls of the Albiore, she has a bit of a friendly chat with Stork (thread still in progress). ![]() Player by Original Profile Concept by |
